@Pranav Patki
One of the longest serving members of our club bids us adieu. Probably having the best introduction to the fans any youngster could ask, Danny Rose in many ways was truly all of us- at least what we wanted to be. Never afraid to speak his mind, he called things as he saw them. He went all in, always- be it training or the game (we could see that in every game). He had to work hard to make it to the top, grinding it out under numerous managers as the Spurs managerial revolving doors were in full effect. He finally got his breakthrough at Sunderland, and proved that he could indeed go to the top, and fulfill the potential seen by Spurs’ when they snapped him up from Leeds, battling not just the challenge of breaking through in the professional game, but even detractors on and off the pitch, some supporting his own team.
Passionate about everything he did, he wanted everyone around to share his passion and be their best. Even as he trained with the U23s, he was always around helping them with advice- even stopped by to watch their last game of the season (which was incidentally at the Lane) and talk to the boys, the day his departure was made public.
Our dashing left back with three pairs of lungs led from the front aggressively, never afraid of putting in that tackle. He personified Poch’s progress at Tottenham- coming leaps and bounds quickly to establish himself as an England regular, only for untimely injuries to sidelines him as things began to go wrong at Spurs. Arguably Spurs have been the most watchable in recent years when Danny and Kyle Walker were marauding up and down the wings, winning all their battles for fun, appearing to be everywhere on the pitch, not just the left side.
He was not afraid to voice himself about his struggles, mental health, and the direction the club was going. It was unfortunate, how things turned out after his infamous interview, but he did get a bigger personal victory in life overcoming his challenges with mental health.
So long Danny. You will be missed!
