Micky Van De Ven’s journey as a footballer is quite interesting. From being an attacker to becoming a defender. From being called “slow” to becoming the fastest player in the premier league. Tottenham man has done a lot in his 5 years of senior team career.

Mickey has become a fan favorite in a very short time and also one the most important players in Ange’s system with his excellent defensive awareness and trackbacks. The Dutch defender was acquired by Tottenham from VFL Wolfsburg in 2023 and van de Ven broke the Premier League’s fastest-player record in his first season. He ran at a speed of 37.38 mph and entered the PL history book.

But the fastest defender in the world was not been included in the team in the past saying that he is a slow player. During his academy days at Volendam, he had refused an EE to the senior team by their manager. The reason he said for not giving that promotion was he is slow. The same guy now sprinting the whole pitch and giving assists like forwards.

Micky started his career as an attacker and his speed was his best quality even back in the day. But he started to grow fast and his knees couldn’t catch up with his body at that time. He became a defender over time. After Volendam changed their manager it only took 10 days for Micky to get his chance in the senior team.

He moved to Wolfsburg in 2021 and made a name for himself in the Bundesliga. Then moved to Tottenham in 2023, The 23-year-old Dutchman is nothing but a generational talent, and we wish to see him at his full potential soon.
